How to Restore
To re-enable multiplayer you need to visit the game’s properties in your Steam library.
Here we open the Betas section and select the only available branch.
And then we wait for the download and file verification to end.
Results
Now you have access to the multiplayer. Enjoy it!

As far as I understand, this beta is for a version before the “multiplayer servers” were disabled for XCOM 2 multiplayer. However, the matches use Peer-to-peer connection, which means there is no middleman needed for the players to connect. Therefore you can play again with little issue.

We have also developed our own multiplayer mod that adjusts balance, adds more units to PvP (including the Chosen) and fixes most of the bugs present in the vanilla online matches.
